SmartMoisture®

SmartMoisture® manages moisture in pet food with its concentrated mixture of organic acids, glycerol esters and added surfactant. The patented formula prolongs its potent preservative action and lowers water activity when compared to salt-stabilised propionic acids. SmartMoisture’s unique features create the most concentrated moisture management product in the market. Free from ingredients with a legal maximum, SmartMoisture® does not need to be declared as an additive or as a preservative.

Devenish has shown a successful reduction in manufacturing energy through less drying while maintaining moisture stability using SmartMoisture®. SmartMoisture® is a liquid that can easily be connected to the water addition in the manufacturing process, allowing for dispersion throughout the batch. The strong surfactant breaks water tension, thereby enhancing moisture penetration into the feed particle. The resulting softer dough gives a better cook, higher throughput and reduced mechanical wear during production.
