The welfare of the animals has motivated bunny since the company‘s foundation in 1988. With great consistency and much sensitivity, products have been developed which focus – without any ifs or buts – on small mammals and their needs. Initially, knowledge on the different requirements is of great relevance. The decisive part is however actually implementing such knowledge into products suitable for the animals. During the product development we follow a conceptual approach. Independent of every individual product consistently created in absolute alignment with the animal‘s needs is the creation of the concept behind it. Here, amongst other things, category work is conducted in order to place the focus more intensively on small mammals and to promote enjoyment of the animals. The bond between owners and their pets is of great consequence. Reinforcing this bond is a matter dear to the bunny company‘s heart, and this means that they must pursue conceptual approaches and implement these together with the trade. Behind all these dynamic developments stands a strong bunny-Team, which has meanwhile increased to 60 employees. Every employee works towards the company‘s success with a high level of commitment and lots of dedication. Every person in the bunny Team has one thing in common: bunny lives out their love of animals. And that is what makes it so special.

When we develop and produce species-appropriate feed, the animals are always our top priority. Where do they come from? What do they eat there? What are their eating and social behaviours? Needless to say, simply knowing about this and their nutritional needs is not enough – putting this expertise into practice in the right products is ultimately crucial.

In 1988, Helga Ostermann founded the company Bunny Tierernährung. In the 80‘s, feed appropriate to the needs of small mammals was more than rarely to be found. In particular the products for rabbits were light years away from being able to cater for the requirements of these specialized herbivores. Helga Ostermann recognized this when feeding her own animals, and began to develop nutrition suitable for them. She laid the foundations in Germany for a super-premium segment for small mammals. From the 3-person team put together by the company founder, a prospering company with about 60 employees has been developed, which still focusses primarily on the welfare of the animals with all of its products. More than 28 years have passed since our company was founded. Much has changed in the world, in Germany, in the trade landscape and the pet sector. The company philosophy, on the other hand, remains unchanged, and is today more appropriate than ever: Only the best for the animals.

A snack at the right time is the perfect addition to the diet, but it is important not to lose sight of what your pet would naturally eat. Snacks do not need to contain sugar, honey or other flavourings. A fine selection of high-quality components that both taste great and are healthy is a much more fantastic option.

Hay is one of the most important main foods for small mammals. Herbivores in particular need a big portion of it every day. But the quality of hay varies widely... it is our role to deliver only the very best. We pay extremely close attention to biodiversity, cutting times, mowing, gentle drying and packaging by hand. That is how we ensure the best hay quality in countless individual steps.
